I don’t think of them as the vice principal who tries to rap. The analogy falls down because they are actually doing something they are good at, i.e. making nasty attack ads that would be frowned upon in political circles outside the US. Obviously they have their own agenda but at the moment they are helping by reaching voters that wouldn’t be open to a message from “liberals”.
I guess a more apt analogy would be a vice principal who slips their students the answers to a test so he doesn’t get fired after the school’s test results had cratered?
