I am just starting to believe that the American public is far less reasonable than anyone imagined.
Disagree. The majority of the American public is more apathetic than could possibly be believed, but that is a different thing. I hold on to the hope that the happenings of the summer shake that apathy and drive voter turnout. Letās face it, his voters will turn out. They know that everything they love him for will be undone if he loses. We need to make sure that nightmare actually occurs!
If itās more than half the people youāre not suspending democracy- that is democracy.
Winners get to implement their policies.
If those policies are intended to deny Democracy to those they see as lesser, or those they see as threats to their unconstitutional agendas, then it isnāt Democracy in action, itās a coup. At this point votes for Trump are attempts to overthrow Democracy.
For most of American history, the voting majority were wrong, grievously wrong, on many terrible things. So I will go out on a limb and say, No. If Trump wins, even if Trump wins fairly, they should not be allowed to implement their policies. At some point people have to make a stand.
Basically the Know-Nothing 27% (AKA John Rogersā Crazification Factor). While thatās enough to sway an election toward fascists, it still leaves plenty of room for everyone else to resist the regimeās policies if the willingness is there to prevent further consolidation of power and further erosion of liberal democratic institutions.
Trump didnāt have a majority of the votes.
I disagree with characterizing Goering as a Kapo, because he had plenty of choices, unlike actual Kapos, who were themselves imprisoned in the camps and were actively participating in some cases, in part out of fear for their lives, but also because it brought them some privileges within the camp system. Goering was an active and enthusiastic nazi from the start. He was never forced to do anything he didnāt want to do. He WANTED what happened to happen.
As for Miller, heās more on the Goering side than the actual Kapo side, but they could very much come for him in a worst case scenario. But right now, Miller is supremely privileged and actively promoting harm for non-white people in America.
But I highly recommend Primo Leviās work on the camps, as he explores the very grey areas that the camp system produced:
JFC, grow the fuck up dude, youāre acting like a child:
And youād call Steven Miller a Kapo? I think heās the textbook definition of active and enthusiastic.
NM, apologies, I see the continuation now.
or grief either
Fuck that guy, he played a stupid game and he won a stupid prize
but dead right-wing martyrs are not good for anybody, they just attract copycats and avengers
Beating those fools down, making them look stupid on TV, that should be the goal, not killing them
Did you actually read @anon61221983ās post? The one where she said sheā place Miller with Goering, as not a kapo?
Yeah, it kind of confused me as I wasnāt the one associating Miller with a Kapo. Miller is one of the main architects of this particular Reich.
Sully, like Stephen Miller, is another kapo whoāll happily support and facilitate a fascist regime right up to the moment that it decides that ā in the name of expediency ā his sort is not welcome after all. Andrew probably believes that Ernst Rohmās primary sin in the eyes of the Nazi party was not being a refined intellectual like himself.
Message to Sullivan: right-wing populists donāt like LGBTQ people any more than they like Jews or Muslims or Black people or immigrants.

Just as right wingers use TERFs to pretend to be pro-women until it becomes more efficient to liquidate them (proverbially and literally).
