The Mortal Kombat 11 official game play trailer is actually quite violent

  1. It is Mortal Kombat…so extreme violence is to be expected.
  2. When the first iteration was ripping heads and spines from the body…there was really only one way it was heading when it gets to MK 11.

I guess my point here is…

Eleven? I haven’t even played one yet!

Well since the OP brought it up…

Certainly some solid mid 90s techo by The Immortals, which were Praga Khan and Oliver Adams, both known for their work in Lords of Acid, and Khan for his work as Praga Khan. I had the single from back in the day which had 3 or 4 mixes on it.

The Mortal Kombat 11 official game play trailer is actually quite violent

Literally every MK game has been pretty violent, that’s kind of their thing. These days we just get it in Hi-def, that’s pretty much the only difference.

And they have added some extra gore every version. In one it was just ripping a head off and pulling the spine out. How the characters are getting fully flayed.

So (as my post suggests) I concur. MK 11 bring violent and gruesome is just par for the course.

One and two were actually fun. 3 made some significant changes that made it good. After that…whatever. Or maybe I just grew up.

The best modern version of MK is actually not a MK title. The same developer made Injustice for DC and its a damn fine title, it did so well that DC ended up making comics for their alternate universe take on the characters. I haven’t played the 2nd one but when the first one came out me and my friends really loved it. Here’s some gameplay for the 2nd one:

That said i haven’t played the more recent MK titles and this upcoming one seems interesting. Its not up my alley so i’m going to pass but i do hope it does well. The fighting scene needs variety and i appreciate the weirdness Mortal Kombat brings.

#9, the one they called “Mortal Kombat” again, was apparently a return to form after a lengthy string of quite forgettable entries, including Mortal Kombat vs DC, its immediate predecessor. Not that I’ve really gotten around to playing any of them.

I kinda of sort of remember the Mortal Kombat storyline as being pretty much over in the 1995 movie. The great battle only comes around every 1000 years? I dunno.

I might add that it effectively rebooted the timeline, story-wise.

Own it. I agree. This is an amazing successor to MK’s model and style.

The original is good, but I also really like the remix by Utah Saints:

The movie is fun, arguably the best of the Unholy Trifecta of 90s movies based off of a fighting video game, the others being Street Fighter and Double Dragon.

The fact that sweet, pure, 90’s parental moral panic fuel is now a nostalgia trip makes me feel unbearably old.

I couldn’t figure out how to fit Tipper Gore into the headline.

Does BBS support some sort of ‘sticker’ overlay?

Mortal Kombat 1 was just the tip of the gore…

The eyeball on the blood spike at the end was a nice touch.

If ever a game trailer needed to include a reference to both Spinal Tap, and “This one goes to eleven”… it was this one.
