And, It’s a post by David Pringle, the biggest spokesperson of and who used to be the second most important member of the Neo-nazi group “National Alliance”, one of the most famous white supremacists in the United states, right up there with David Duke and Don Black.
I’m not absolutely saying he’s a racist…but literally all the evidence points to him being a massive fucking racist. And he’s quite openly and proudly a racist. So yes, actually, I am absolutely saying he’s a racist, because he fucking is.
Define resources however you like. The new LVMPD buildings (multiple) are 4 or 5 stories, the Clark County and Nye County shared office building (singular) is but a single story and fits in the foot print of one of the LVMPD buildings with room left over for parking.
Define temperament however you like. Suicide by cop happens a lot more than suicide by BLM ranger.
The contrast between local police, state police, and BLM rangers still stands regardless of how many times you type bullshit.
No one ever questioned (including my original posting) if the BLM Rangers are law enforcement - they are, that’s a given. My statement was and still is that BLM Rangers are not police officers, they don’t act the same, they don’t have the same resources, they don’t have the same training… if they did, the outcome of recent of events would be drastically different than the BLM walking away. When have you ever seen local or state police walk away from any situation that involved the other side having and pointing rifles at them?
What you’ve noticed I call cognitive dissonance. We pretend that we’re all stakeholders in this endeavor, and not merely subjects. We pretend that voting matters, no matter how few do it or how bad the choices. We pretend to be proud instead of terrified. And it makes people crazy to keep up that pretense. The government (mailman, librarian, bus driver) becomes a handy target for the rage, because there’s no acceptable place to put it.
You call it schizophrenia, I call it a failed nation.
I’ve been thinking about this issue. BLM’s solution should be simple: Poison the grass of the area under contention. Put up the equivalent of a “No Lifeguard” sign. Cow owner is free to let livestock graze at will.
It’s different because people in support of a law breaker came with guns on Federal property. And this drama queen with his rifle peeking between the cement barriers is enjoying his moment of fame while being snapped by several people who seem to have a different take on the danger he’s facing, or why are they all standing or squatting with themselves exposed to the scary BLM guys?
There are no larger issues other than Bundy hasn’t paid his grazing fees in 20 years. The state of Nevada says the federal law comes first. He’s a mooch.
Except as a rule it’s pretty fair to say militia types are extreme right wingers and racism, sexism (the women were going to be put in front of the men so if the Feds killed them it would make the gov’t look bad), anti-Muslim, anti-non Christian, etc. Don’t be naive.
I’m no expert on marksmanship, but it looks to me like that slot between two concrete traffic barriers is so narrow that the man with the rifle wouldn’t be able to rotate the rifle horizontally at all, which would make it very difficult to aim effectively. So I’m guessing that’s all for show.
We can expect more incidents like this in the future. The human population grows, uses up available land, bumps elbows with each other. I can move to the boondocks to get away from the sprawl, only to find after a few years the sprawl has followed me with a highway and strip malls in my backyard. This is public land in dispute here. Those of us that live in big cities know that you can’t just use a public park as you wish, say to cut firewood, but out west things are a little different. This guy has gotten used to using the land as he wishes, and it’s probably exacerbated by a good dose of Libertarian anti-government propaganda, because, you know, “freedom!” Except your freedom ends where mine begins, and in this case it is the BLM that has to decide where all our freedom begins and ends with respect to public land.
Now, you can talk about government overreach, and totalitarianism, but we are supposed to be a government of the people, by the people, for the people, and our government is supposed to act on our behalf-- maybe it does, maybe it doesn’t, but it would be wiser to negotiate with the BLM than to declare civil war, because even if the BLM concedes here and he basically wins this battle, there will be other battles in the future: overgrazing and damage to land, damage to neighboring lands, encroachment by other ranchers, water rights, etc. Suddenly he will either need a permanent standing army of his own, or ironically, the help of the BLM. So if this jackass playing sniper wants to start a civil war, he should remember that it won’t be just one shot or one battle, or even just a civil war (as if that would be a walk in the park), it will be the long difficult process of forming your own government and laws which could end up being just as annoying and constraining as those you rebelled against.
Why would you jack asses at BOING BOING publish this man’s identity and face photo? No respect for anonymity or privacy. Now he may have to face the bullshit you started with law enforcement. Shame on you!
