Big win for inclusivity, though it’s still kind of weird to celebrate inclusion in an institution based on the objectification of women.
Exactly my thoughts. Yay, I guess, for achieving in a field best left to the annals of “weird shit we used to do”
This doesn’t seem equitable. We have an unfair advantage in competitions.
I guess I’m less concerned about that since the entire Miss Universe organization is owned by a trans woman from Thailand? I had somehow missed that news. I’m surprised that bit of news didn’t cause Ben Shapiro and Matt Walsh to spontaneously explode.
But the American competitor in the Miss Universe pageant is the winner of the Miss USA pageant, which was owned by Donald Trump for nearly 20 years (during which time he’d abuse his position of power to ogle the contestants in their changing rooms).
You forgot to type teenage in front of the word contestant
It is an outmoded competition for sure, but I’m happy to see this inclusivity.
I also can’t wait to see my Dad spit his tea all over when he reads the Daily Heil spin on this story.
Yep, but the Thai woman who bought Miss Universe also bought Miss USA and Miss Teen USA. She owns all three.
The 71-year-old competition first began allowing transgender contestants in 2012
Wow! I’m surprised it happened that long ago. Good for them!
