An important point in this story is that Sturmbannfuhrer Prince and his associates were not only ratf*cking Democratic campaigns but also those of Republicans not sufficiently supportive of Biff’s Death Cult.

They seem to be banking on support from the enlisted ranks, but that’s not going to pan out for right-wing insurrectionists in the U.S. Successful mutinies amongst the troops usually support left-wing causes.
What the death cultists really resent here is that American officers take an oath to support and defend the Constitution rather than to blindly obey the head of state.

In one sense it’s useful that these bigots identify themselves as such. At the same time, it’s cause for concern that they’ve been emboldened to do so.
The danger to equitable liberal democracy comes both from sneaks like Cruz and Hawley (who are in the Senate because they’re cunning enough to hide their racism in situations like this) and from overt bigots like these 14 in the House as well as in greater numbers in statehouses throughout the country.
Reading this morning in the NYT about the process of China’s current clampdown on Hong Kong, I’m worried that the GOP has something similar in store for American democracy.
