Agree. RagĂš is RagĂš, and is something else.

This is not pretending to be ragù, this is what the Brittish so lovingly call “Spag Bol.”

It’s basically the equivalent of Chicken Tikka Masala, or General Tso’s Chicken. Roughly the right flavors for something from that general part of the world, but nothing that the natives would cook themselves.

That said, even as an Italian, a good Spag Bol is perfectly good.

This recipe looks more doable and flavorful than the last time someone made ‘spag bol’ for me; they used Alton Brown’s recipe, which took half of a day and a kitchen’s worth of ingredients, and was perfectly serviceable but surprisingly bland. Subtle amounts of ingredients don’t really come forth in a recipe like this.
