Regardless of whether or not he intends to return it should have been obvious that the quote would be seen as insensitive. It’s literally his most famous movie quote, spoken by a character who is about to murder a bunch of people and is trying to exterminate all of humanity. He definitely should have phrased it differently. “A powerful testament to the victims of the holocaust. I definitely intend to return here,” for example.

He’s spoken out repeatedly and powerfully against Nazis many times so I guess I’ll give him a pass this once, but he still should have known better.
