In my opinion the real Street Fighter movie did star Jean-Claude Van Damme but it was made in 1988 and called Bloodsport. I’d also argue that Enter the Dragon with Bruce Lee made in 1973 is closer to the spirit of the videogame.

I’m not sure how they could have made a film that was close to the games that anyone (except fighting fans) would have wanted to watch. The game didn’t really have much plot beyond “fight all these people until you win”.
Games don’t generally map easily to films, as evidenced by how few adaptations-of-games are actually worth watching.
