I happen to think that fundamentalism of any stripe is a horrible way to view the world, so any move away from that and toward acknowledging the messy and complex humanity in which we swim is a good change!
I don’t think it’s cynical to imagine that Hilary is capable of being dragged to the Left -quite the opposite! Nor do I think she’s “reprehensible.” She’s a complex and flawed human being, just as you are or I am, the stakes for her are just higher. Which is why I think it’s a good idea to surround her with people who are better than she is! 
It’s more than she had to do, but less than she needs to do. That’s a positive sign, to me - Hilary is many things, and one of those things is that she is very adept at moving where the political waters take her.
