There are 43 giant stone Presidential heads crumbling in a field in Virginia

The concrete looks as substantial as a sub-standard chocolate Easter Bunny. It looks like there’s a frame in there, but not really integrated with the concrete, so when the concrete cracks, it’s done for.

I think I’d have a frame supporting a heavy wire mesh, and then hit that with shotcrete, followed by the artist with sander and chisels.

Of course, what you really need is a giant 3D head printer.

Or warheads, come to think of it.

Frustrated conservator: “Will you just LOOK at the state of these heads of Heads of State??”

This is clearly a Stratego set for alien super-monsters. Wake up, sheeple! etc.

…and one crumbling in the White House.

My guess would be fiberglass on a steel frame with a coating of concrete/plaster resin.
Clearly these were never built to last any longer than your average theme park attraction.

Also, what state of decay is the Nixon head in? Anybody got a picture?

I would expect to find stoned presidential heads in a headshop, not a field.

Virginia.

Another great article about this from a few years ago…

The author did a series of writeups on abandoned places he entered (sometimes with permission, sometimes a bit more gonzo style).

Thanks! Good pictures. Nixon seems to have weathered quite well.

So the original Presidents’ Park, uhm, went bust?
