And how do they keep the mag-lev turntable from wobbling, and interfering with the magnet(s)/coil(s) of the cartridge?
Is there any advantage to this, or is it just cool? I mean, it is cool…
It’s cool.
I think is has a similar effect of floating double frame like in Thorens turntables: a better insulation from vibrations coming from the base.
But the record isn’t in the air. It’s on a platform… disappointed!
It levitates ME!
But the cassette doesn’t move if the platform moves, and vice-versa. Is that a problem? I’m no audiophile so I don’t know how these systems work (on the high end).
Wingardium Leviosa!
that ad was so millennial hipster it hurt to watch it.
$3,500? No thanks, I’d rather make a few house payments, maybe take that exotic vacation I’ve been eyeing.
the sound is only part of the experience
A noisy, distorted experience. Yay.
We were promised flying cars, we were sold floating turntables. Thanks, life.
And if I can spend $ 3,500 for music, I’d rather buy an used piano.

$3,500 buys a lot of avocado toast.
This is a horrible idea.
Would it be harmful to sit and spin on? Asking for my cats.
If you want the intangible (inaudible?) analogue interaction between vinyl and needle, wouldn’t you want the whole package: what about the effect of the motor, belt, etc. on the turntable?
Finally, something worth buying through the Boing Boing shop.
BoingBoing: These Audiophiles are all suckers, and the companies that sell them stuff are evil.
Also BoingBoing: Buy this $3500 record player!
