I was wondering when it would come up and of course Fox News doesn’t disappoint in the “being oblivious assholes to the real issue” department.
Frustratingly, it’s not just Fox. The AP is also running the story itself, as evidenced by the fact that it surfaced with a nearly-identical headline on my local paper’s website with an AP byline.
“I don’t like knee-jerk politically charged speculation when a Muslim is the “obvious suspect” and I don’t like it here either.”
Your sentence is ambiguous – "and I don't like it here either" I took to be modifying everything through "obvious suspect". There is nothing in your sentence that demands that I interpret it as you do. I should've asked you to clarify. But would you have clarified if had not irritated you?
(And would I have responded if I had not found your reply irritating?)
The other thing is, I think you would have to admit that the "let's wait and see until all the facts are in" is an overused trope of the NRA-supporting legislators who will never change their outlook no matter what facts are in.
I think you need to ignore some pretty big red flags to go with your reading, including the quotes around “obvious suspect” and very awkward use of “either”.
Yeah, I tend to engage a lot, probably too much
It’s also the trope everyone on our side uses when the attack has the standard characteristics of an Islamic terrorist, because it’s generally a good idea to wait for the relevant facts.
Now, I don’t think it’s a very good excuse to refrain from blaming guns in this case because it’s fairly hard to envision a sequence of events where further facts would have fundamentally undercut arguments for gun control.
But blaming a right wing terrorist was going way out on a limb, and as it turns out a non-existent limb at that.
I don’t think you do…
Hospitalized for mental illness, yet had no trouble purchasing handguns or keeping them. Thank you NRA, and thank you Congress.
Ok, it may have taken longer than 10 seconds, but they eventually did it:
Wonder no more!
Fuck.
Quite.
Also, those darn headphones are to blame:
According to him, everyone needs to spend every moment in every public space expecting that someone might shoot them and being ready to react. I mean, he’s literally describing PTSD as a necessary prerequisite for living in the US.
The awfulness of these people is beyond parody.
