Tire removed from elk's neck after two years

So many puns. We’re getting a lot of mileage from the tire story

I feel like that elk.

Makes sense. Being eponymous can do that to a person. And maybe even to an elk.

OH yeah, the steel bands… should have brought wire cutters. Now they know.

Still, he should be ok. Just miss out on this year for mating. But they will grow back next year.

Having gone to Estes Park’s Elktober for one year, I’ll pretend like I’m an expert. Elk usually don’t really fight with their antlers. They just push each other until one of them gets tired or gives up. The bachelors hang out together during the rut while the more successful bulls try to maintain a harem. I think he’ll be fine.

After two years he will probably continue to ply his way through the woods in radial fashion - unless he gets bogged down in a rut - then he might want to retire. That is my theory of an elk.
