I grew up on a farm, drinking raw milk. It tastes great. But I no longer would drink it, knowing the risks.

I have no doubt this wellness woo (moo?) is related to this:

My father drank raw milk as a child. On his way to, and sometimes home from, school he’d actually stop and get milk from his family’s cow.
He and his friends also ran around in the woods, sometimes barefoot, shooting each other with BB guns.

There’s a very good explanation for why none of that had any long-term negative effects: LUCK. Just because some people can get away with doing something stupid doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.

When I was little, my mom squirted a little in my cup for me to try. I remember it was warm. One of my earliest memories.

I mean, I guess right out of the cow you are probably ok, but man, there is a lot between the cow and a shelf to introduce bacteria. There is a reason pasteurization was invented.

Also, repeating a previous thread:

Maybe this will work itself out.

I grew up on a dairy farm and we still only drank pasteurized. Mainly because it all smelled of cow when it was straight out of the udder, but smelled of delightfully warm milk when it was straight out of the big stainless boiler.

Not necessarily. You can get Hepatitis and other viruses even straight from the cow. Don’t do it.

Most especially right now when avian flu is fairly common in raw milk. Not a roulette wheel we need to spin.

I wish her all the intestinal distress in the world. All at once.

This is of course right and proper for someone who hates all progress from the 1860s on. However, if she really wants to own the libs, she is missing the chance to advocate the healing wonders of raw meat.

From what I’ve been seeing online, raw milk is perfectly safe if you boil it before drinking.

(to be clear, I know what pasteurization is, but some folks clearly don’t).

Raw is fine if you cook it first? They have no self awareness .

I’d much rather milk pasteurized than boiled.
