What dicks.
Itâs just occurred to me that JK Rowling had two cis boys in the girls restroom at a sleepover school - and they were heroes?
That makes like, no fucking sense whatsoever.
Itâs like if the NAACP said theyâll only look out for light-skinned Black folks and not the dark complexioned ones.
They canât articulate âwhat they doâ for gay, lesbian and bi people, because they donât actually do anything, except spread discord and division.
They donât like each other either. The Gs hate the Ls, the Ls hate the Gs, they both hate the Bs and the only thing holding the alliance together is that they all hate trans people more.
No wonder the religious far right is supporting them, they are the most useful anti-LGBTQ+ group around because they are superficially LG.
And many of them arenât even LG or B!
Kinda like the âMillion Momsâ thing? Where the âMillion Momsâ are a dozen or so white dudes with beards, and the only moms involved are the people they pay rent to in order to live in the basement?
Rep. Jim Banks (Indiana) suspended from Twitter for misgendering trans government official Dr. Rachel Levine
Dr. Rachel Levine is the first transgender person to hold a U.S. Senate-appointment office.
Thatâs horrible for Doctor Levine and perhaps the first time somebody actually got suspended from Twitter for transphobia.
There it is. Exactly. âLetâs you and them fightâ is a classic deception.
FTA:
Twitter said the comment violated its hateful conduct policy, which prohibits the âtargeted misgendering or deadnaming of transgender individuals.â
Thatâs news to me. Many of my reports get âdoes not violate community standardsâ for much worse transphobia. I donât even bother to report misgendering because itâs never worked for me.
I guess when the people involved are high profile, itâs harder to sweep under the rugâŚ
Exactly. The only thing Iâve really had success reporting are outright threats. Thankfully, a carefully constructed block list has gotten rid of most of the crap on my timeline.
Iâm sorry you have to deal with that shit. You shouldnât have to.
This is why Iâm not on social media. Do not need more hassles in my life. Thereâs enough transphobia in 3D; and the last year and a half has made my equilibrium razor thin.
I definitely get that. But Iâve got a great community on Twitter and I have managed to curate my following/blocks well enough that itâs mostly not an issue for me anymore. Though whenever I wander out of my little corner, Iâm reminded just how awful that site can be.
Itâs a common social media problem⌠the big companies have monopolistic control over social media and dominate the market. The desire for continued clicks always some serious toxic behavior to thrive. Whatâs worse, is that itâs now spilling over into meat space. All these issues that some of us hoped weâd made progress on seem to be evaporating.
Itâs depressing.
It is a big problem. Fighting/controversy drives engagement for many, so it gets selected for by the algorithms. It really sucks.
I finally got over my internalized transphobia to come out in May, just in time for me to become a political wedge issue. Yay! When I created my trans Twitter account in August, it wasnât too bad. Since the end of September, seems like the transphobia has started exploding on the internet in general. Itâs not been good for my mental health. I hope the backlash is a sign that weâre winning, but it sure sucks to be subjected to this crap every day.
That really sucks.
It has. Some of that likely comes from the higher profile trans people are having right now, especially in popular media (shows like Transparent and Pose getting emmys, that kind of thing). That draws the bigots out of their slimy holes. They just canât stand to see people that they fear being celebrated in our culture. They have nothing to offer but hate and destruction.
I hope so too. I want to live in a world where all of us can live a good life without having to worry about whether or not their basic rights are going to be stripped away. As @anon73430903 often says, trans rights are often the canary in the coalmine. I know that if my trans brothers and sisters are at risk, all of us can be next. Their coming for all people who can bear children and trans people in texas and other southern states. Itâs not a big surprise itâs all happening at the same time.
Anyways⌠have a hug from me!
