Wow, who knew Bobcat was so wise?
Weird huh?
Hereâs my side of the story.
I donât want to have sex or a relationship with TERFs, for the same reason I donât want to have sex or a relationship with fascists. 15 years ago I was on a lesbian dating site and tried being open about being transgender and medical status and just got abuse, followed by being banned by the dating site for being a man (it wasnât anti-trans at first, but it was taken over by a company run by TERFs).
I canât win. I am condemned by the circumstances of my birth. I either donât talk about being transgender and become one of the monsters the TERFs talk about, or I am open about it and become one of the monsters the TERFs talk about.
Iâm so sorry.
Thatâs because you arenât the problem. The TERFs and people like them are the problem.
I know. The bigger problem are the British media, who have taken one side for so long that trans people wonât talk to them anymore. Even if we did speak to them they wouldnât listen to us.
Iâm sorry you feel that wayâŚ
âŚbut honestly, I donât think youâre a monster. I may not know you in person, but over the years, Iâve found you to be intelligent, spirited, and thoughtful-- absolutely not a monster.
And it seems to me that this is TERs talking out of their asses, yet again. They cobble together lies and rumors and recycled prejudices into a strawman to hate and fear, and they project its image onto whoever scares them. Itâs pure fiction, it doesnât exist. And it isnât you.
If thereâs any monster in this situation, itâs the TERs and their bigotry.
Linda Riley is one of the women behind Diva magazine, who have been trans inclusive for over 20 years. We still have TER lesbians who donât realise this and think that it is a recent editorial policy though.
I donât know any trans person who would try to force a person who doesnât want to have sex with them to do so, and I know a lot of trans people. Itâs just not a thing that happens.
My guess is that those responding to the survey matched with a trans person, found out, said something transphobic and were called out on it and rather than listening to what was said, decided that the trans person was mad because they didnât want to have sex with them and was trying to coerce them into it.
If Iâm dating someone and it gets to the point of sexy times and they donât want to, well then I just move on. I wouldnât want to make anyone uncomfortable. But thatâs an unlikely situation, since Iâm far more likely to date another trans person than a cis one anyway. I want the person Iâm being intimate with to understand me and my life experience, so Iâm thatâs why Iâm pretty much only T4T (trans dating trans) at this point.
And this is half the reason why I link to archived articles now. Will the BBC memory hole it before they are forced to make an apology?
Why the fuck isnât this woman in jail?
Because she seems to assault women in the adult film industry, and who would take them seriously? (I wish this was a /s, but it really is not.)
Unsurprising from StoneâŚ
âI think Netflixâs reputation in the Hollywood community went way, way up. Thatâs all Iâm going to say. There are some people who do not agree. But the vast majority of creative people in Hollywood were happy with Netflixâs decision. Thatâs my feeling. I canât prove that.â
Professional asshole wants to protect his business interests isnât really news.
That hits home. I hate that all the coverage of trans issues never talks to actual trans people, so we never get to show that weâre regular people with regular lives instead of the monstrous threat to women and children the media pushes constantly. We just want to be able to live our lives unmolested, thank you.
Of course, the TERs and Tories had to twist this into divide and rule hate. They just canât stop themselves.
