Today in transphobia (Part 1)

Well, they can always deny human rights by declaring you “not human.”

I am not even trying to be funny, and it wouldn’t be the first time the NYT backed that kind of thing.

Right now I am deeply depressed.

The NYT has a looong history of transphobic articles and giving voice to transphobes while silencing trans voices as both authors and as experts on trans lives in articles.

I had a friend who was an editor there in the 90’s. She retired early when transitioning due to the atmosphere.

Reminded me of something I saw earlier:

He could have phrased it slightly better, but I agree with the point.

LOL, West Plains. It serves no other purpose but to make Rolla look like Paris. I’d call it the worst city in northern Arkansas, but I’d be doing Arkansas a disservice.

Love this lovely quote:

“I think it is a problem that we have an entire month dedicated to someone’s sexuality and only a day for veterans,” one student wrote. “You have the right to fly your LGBTQ flag just like I have the right to fly my American and/or rebel flag.”

It’s Veteran’s Day, and my granddaddy fought in WWII, and I’m flying his flag, so what’s the problem? It’s not my fault he fought for the other side!

And BTW, there are only eleventyone different federal, state, and local holidays celebrating wars and veterans, and you get days off for those.

God damn it, JK…

Although, at this point, I don’t think this is new… it’s been brewing for a while that she’s aligning herself with TERFs.

Which is why if you want some wonderful, heartbreaking stories about children at magical boarding school, Seanan McGuire’s Wayward Children series (start with Every Heart A Doorway) is a much more solid recommend. Diversity, acceptance, and really great writing. Solid recommend, and no worries about racism, transphobia or “[character] is totally gay, I just didn’t feel like putting it in the text!” bullshit.

Yeah, what was it, a year or so ago that she “liked” a tweet referring to trans women as “men in dresses”, and her PR rep was like “oh ha ha that was a slip of the finger, silly mistake!” Yeah, no. Thanks for making your hatred clear, J.K.

For a woman who knocks trans women she sure is public about identifying as a man for money…

In contrast, I offer a photo of Emma Watson being far more positive, thank you.

It is a great photo and you’re right - but I’m not going back in there again until I have a lot of spare time

I know, right? I keep forgetting about the internet K-hole… then I remember, and that’s my afternoon!

One of the fine folks from LodingReadyRun, who I follow on Twitter, had perhaps the greatest response to this news I’ve seen, and I wanna share it to give folks here a much-needed shot of aggressive positivity

Could one of our UK mutants educate me here? Is it really as bad as described in this article?

Not from the U.K. - but they do seem to have a huge transphobe infestation.
