From my completely unscientific study, I’ve found that most British TERFs end up being tankies or fascists because all the other political factions want nothing to do with them (the tories tolerate them if they keep quiet).
It is unsurprising that the two totalitarian groups are so welcoming to them, considering their history of behaviour towards us.

Britain feels like it is only a few years behind the US, and now that the EU can’t stop the UK from enacting discriminatory laws I expect they will be trying to catch up. This is why I am trying to help my friend’s family get German citizenship that was illegally removed from them in the 1930s (They have zero interest in moving to Israel if they don’t have to.)

I suddenly have to wonder if the flurry of ALEC-written or -inspired bills making their way through various state houses may not have a more subtle goal than just “owning the libs” and inflicting suffering upon those not in favor, but in making the red/blue divide so stark that it begins to drive moderates and progressives out. If we win in November as we might, further voter suppression may become more difficult, so rather than purging voter rolls, maybe they just purge actual voters. It’s not technically disenfranchisement if you simply make life so hard on left-leaning voters that they just up and leave, after all. (Also see the farce of WV inviting VA counties and individuals to join them in their right-wing ignorance).

This is looking like a replay of the Ken Mehlman gay marriage strategy that got Bush elected. Gin up the base against a devalued group - divert attention of the candidates, divert resources and advocates on the left. Make people waste resources and focus while pushing your base for donations by feeding them red meat.

Brynn is a trans woman served in the military for years & has been a defense contractor afterwards. She’s made significant contributions to trans enfranchisement. I think she attended Annapolis and was a pilot.

I have considered changing my IRL name to Cassandra, considering how many of my fears are coming true and how nobody seems to listen to me (to be fair, some of them think it’s my PTSD and that they are helping by telling me everything is ok).
The scary thing is that I first considered doing it before 2016
Now I’m worrying about how that story ended.
