It’s interesting and informative that these people always talk about “global epidemic” or “contagion”, and not realize this is because young people are more aware about transgenderness, and coming out as nonbinary or trans etc. is less dangerous. These trans girls and boys have always been there; now they just know what they’re feeling and why, and feel like coming out with it.

Jenn Smith, the event organizer, has no academic ties to UBC and reportedly used members of the Soldiers of Odin hate group as bodyguards at previous events in BC.

I like to think we’re more of a vaccination.

If you want to watch the well known transphobic arsehole, who has been mentioned in here repeatedly, scrabble around desperately trying to justify his hatred of the trans community and support of other transphobes then watch this. Apparently he only got involved in order to reduce the toxicity online. Who knew!

I only just found this out, but there is some evidence that glinner was a chaser.

I have seen too many of these kind of stories end in rape, grievous bodily harm, and/or murder.

The other situation that often occurs? A trans sex worker once said to me about another one - yesterday’s customer; today’s competition.

Jesus, yeah. The brain rot really did set in between then and now, what the hell happened? As someone said in that last twitter thread, it’s classic cis male behaviour.

This also came up.

Frankie Boyle, of all people, called him out on his transphobia

I used to have to change channels whenever he was on television because he always seemed to have some transphobic joke ready. Maybe he really has become more aware in the last ten years.

I think he has actually, it seems like the reaction to his earlier material has opened his eyes to the effect it was having and watching his series does appear to bear that out.
