She has evolved - into a Republican.
Well if only Democrats had just accepted her bigotry, sheād still be a democrat, right? Really they made her shift to the rightā¦ /s
Some streamer I watch on occasion did a āpodcastā with someone else about race, gender and bill C-16.
For those who donāt know: C-16 refers to bill from the 42nd session of parliament that added gender identity to a list of things you canāt discriminate against and not C-16 from the current session of parliament which is an āAn Act for granting to Her Majesty certain sums of money for the federal public administration for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2021ā. Itās a huge red flag to suggest someone gets their information about the Canadian legislature from raging transphobes rather than from website for the legislative assembly.
I listened to a minute of it to see if it was what I thought it was and it totally was - a faux-rational discussion of transgender āissuesā without any reference to transgender people. Now Iām trying to figure out whether the souls challenge run community is a toxic shithole or not and I realize I am not at all sure how to do that.
Generally speaking, the Souls community has some pretty broad and deep problems with ableism if nothing else, and self-identifying āgamersā are ones Iād always watch with a wary eye ever since GG. But apart from waiting for prominent members to milkshake duck themselves, the best you can go off of by proxy is how the community around each of these people behaves. Itās entirely possible to cultivate a decent, LGBTQIA-friendly community on the internet, it just takes giving a shit. If their Twitch chat or Discord community are throwing out shitty ājokesā without being called out by the streamer or the mods, thatās a big red flag. Same with declaring them āfree speechā zones.
āNo politicsā rules can also be a red flag, but it entirely depends on how itās positioned. I know several streamers who are good folks and extremely supportive of the queer community who largely insist on a no politics rule because of the extra baggage it creates when people start arguing over Trump or the election or what have you, but they also donāt treat queer issues or LGBTQIA rights as items that are subject to ādebateā.
Thatās an astute observation. I mean, I understand why people donāt want their streams to be about politics, especially since it sometimes seems like everything in the world is always about politics. But of course then things depend on what you consider politics. Part of the goal/strategy of bigots is to make peopleās very existence a political issue, so you can tell if someone buys into that by seeing what they deem to be out of bounds under the āno politicsā rule.
Of course Twitch is just another microcosm of everything. When I started reading Harry Potter to my child I donāt think I possibly imagined Iād that Iād be reading book six with an eye to how transphobia might be coded into it (beyond the way it generally creeps into all products of a transphobic culture)
The one-two-three punch of fake allyship, rank hypocrisy, and Elon Musk.
He supports trans what?
I was gonna suggest he misspelled ātrainsā but we all know he doesnāt support those either.
If weāre talking Elon: Trans fats. McDonaldās French fries havenāt tasted the same since they went canola.
Trans-Ams? If they were electric?
Arenāt those trans amps?
Shocking!
But nowhere near as hard as naming your kid some math formula.
I remember hearing someone say that if you know a lot of people with a variety of novel pronouns and you are honestly having trouble remembering who is xhe and who is zer, just call people by their names. But Musk seems to want to rule that possibility out.
trans humanism. He is confused.
Itās just a piss-poor way of spelling Henry.
And I come from a country where the bosses are only allowed a choice of five names.
The BBC is falling down due to a lack of balance.
And ethics.
