Wait, what? Wasn’t it BBC who recently said employees couldn’t attend rallies in support of trans rights because it was too political?
I must be remembering wrong. Does not compute.
Yep, same assholes.
American exceptionalism. Though the world has a surfeit of fuckheads.
Trans aspect aside, when did it become not just acceptable, but admirable, to be a deliberately rude asshole?
My theory?
Around the time ‘reality’ tv shows became a big money maker for the networks. Bad behavior is encouraged, exploited and ‘rewarded’ with quick cash and temporary “fame.”
Rrrrriiiigghhhhttttt…
Bart’s older than that
60%?? 60%?? WTF! I would not have guessed that many Americans were that big assholes. Not certain why it surprises me that the number is so high, but it does. Not the misgendering part. Lord knows, I do that myself at times, to my own humiliation. But the intentional part. Damn, that’s cold.
Sorry, should have said 1989, when the show actually premiered. I was living in a place that didn’t have it in syndication from the start.
But the Simpson family debuted in ‘87 on The Tracy Ullman Show.
True, but the fervor didn’t really expand until their debut, right? What with all the heavy marketing and copyright violations…Simpsons t-shirts and whatnot.
Going for the Pedant Pendant today?
Tracey Ullman did intro the Simpsons, but Knox is right - ‘Bart mania’ didn’t happen until about '90 or '91.
That is incredibly sad. It does cause me to appreciate our extended family even more.
The Beeb is doubling down on their love for JK:
“ Pugh, 19, was killed on December 13. The victim’s mother told Fox10 that bystanders filmed the incident and posted it on Facebook. She said they watched her child die.
“You sat there for 20 minutes and recorded [her] on the floor,” Pugh’s mother, Tiffany, said, according to Fox10. “No CPR, nothing!”
Bystanders then said if Pugh “wasn’t wearing that dress,” nobody would have been killed.”
“If she wasn’t watering that dress…”
Seems like a shit-ton of piss poor excuses for piss poor actions start that way. I weep for our society.
Clearly the restrictions on trans related political issues is unipolar.
Fair enough. But doesn’t Dr Who fit in there somewhere? One out of three isn’t great - but it beats none out of three.
