That’s some non-pology bullshit right there, huh?
I understand fixed views are not helpful but I really hope people can understand my concern was out of love for all of us.”
That is not an apology. That is “you all are wrong for not understanding how hurt I am by you being hurt.” That is some bullshit.
And the ending, effectively “I’m just gonna leave now, I won’t help fix any of the damage or help you, k, thnx, bye.”
also, “everyone please still listen to my music”
That too!
I hadn’t deliberately listened to her before, I think I’ll make the effort not to bother now.
I’d never heard of her until today
Sucks to be her, then
Well that fucking sucks. It’s never been a magazine I sought out, but if it’s around I’ll read it and it does have good content. They did a whole thing for the 20th anniversary of Freaknik for example a few years back…
[ETA] Y’all just read the Bitter Southerner instead… it’s got broader coverage than ATL and GA…
For example…
It’s good that the staff wouldn’t stand for it.
Good on them!!
Thank you.
Yeah, no shit. I know a LOT of trans people and almost everyone is much happier on the proper hormones. Regret is vanishingly rare, and in a just world a 1% regret rate would be celebrated as a triumph of medical science. We are not in a just world.
So often I see that the people that have negative opinions about trans inclusion in cycling are the people that have never previously cared about the sport. They see it as an easy opportunity to jump in on the culture war and further anti-trans rhetoric. Sport is built around such explicit binaries. When those are blurred, people freak out. We, as trans people, challenge something that most people see as so unchangeable, so innate. Once those barriers start to break down, you see how socially constructed much of our world view is, and how other things – like power, class, money and capital – can also be challenged. We pose a threat to the status quo, and it’s one of the reasons why, I believe, transphobia is rife.
