Yeah, as awful as it is, itâs not surprisingâŚ
I was reading on Buzzfeed that Van Ness left in tears.
Misinformed transphobia from supposed allies hits a lot harder than the constant bleating of the right. Iâve been left in tears by supposed âalliesâ acting similar to how the article paints the interaction on the podcast myself. It fucking sucks.
A bit different to 2018. [Emphasis mine.]
âShe believes her selection shows the diversity of the Angling Trust and the sport overall: "Iâve always wanted to do something to the best of my ability and I was asked by some of the England Ladies to apply for the team.â
I knew Becky, we used to attend the same trans peer-support group in Kent for a few years.
Someone should write an updated âLetter from a Birmingham Jailâ but on transphobia on the leftâŚ
I could, but yâall could just scroll through any social media site on any day and get it freshâŚ
âI wish it wasnât,â she said, for the umpteenth time this week.
As with chess, archery, shooting⌠I can see (and disprove) concerns about âphysical advantages of trans womenâ in some sports, but these? Just no!
What the fuck kind of argument can they possibly come up with other than âtrans people should not exist?â
And they passed the buck, '"itâs not us, we just think it unfair on every other team⌠"
Cowards and assholes, the lot of them.
Maybe fish like trans people more than terfs? I mean, I know I do.
Another state that feels it would be better off without pediatric care for anyone rather than allow trans kids to be themselves.
Trans high school student Tristan Young has received an onslaught right-wing backlash after her peers at Kansasâs Oak Park High School voted to crown her homecoming queen.
But Young wonât let the bigotry bring her down. She told The Kansas City Star that sheâs not the kind of person to let people shut her down.
âI like to stay strong. I donât really buckle unless something is really wrong. Right now, whatâs happening is people are trying to turn a joyous thing into something that I should regret. But itâs going to stay a joyous thing.â
âJesus says âLove thy neighbor.â Love everyone as they are,â she added. âThis is who I am⌠Iâm proud of who I am. You can tear me down all you want. Iâm not going to give back the crown.â
For Young, the good outweighs the bad, and so itâs not worth harping on the haters.
âWhen I was crowned homecoming queen, why should I make my memories be about fighting back?â she said. âI want to make my memories of being homecoming queen happy. And theyâre going to be happy. Iâm forever going to remember that moment on the field, where Iâm standing with people I love the most, and they call my name. And there was a roar.â
âThatâs what Iâm going to think about years later. Iâm not going to think about all this backlash I got. Because that doesnât matter to me. What matters to me are the people that support me.â
I love that she is able to stay positive in the face of bigotry.
