I honestly don’t get anything about Trump’s success. I really don’t. It’s the only thing I’ve come across in 30 years that has come close to making me rethink my atheism, because I swear the explanation that makes the most sense is that he sold his soul to the devil.

He just was born into wealth and ended up finding a mentor (Roy Cohn) who helped him learn how to work the system to his advantage. The fact that he was a white cisgendered male helped. The system was designed to help people like him succeed, no matter how shitty a human they are…

I mean I get that, but there’s lots of rich fucks like that. But none of them have managed to use that like he has. Like, most of the time, working class people, even working class white people, don’t trust people born into wealth like Trump was. But they worship him! Literally! I don’t understand how they can’t see how fake it all is. I don’t understand how they can’t see that he doesn’t care about them. I mean…he hasn’t even called the family of the man killed at his rally! Ugh. I just will never understand.

All I can say is that he gives them a target for their anger and frustration in life by targeting certain groups in American society that maybe they don’t understand. It’s “exciting” for some and gives them purpose and direction. It’s really strongman 101 in getting followers.
Yeah, I mean, I feel you and in that I don’t understand the appeal either, but these are people who feel like they’re victims (which, to be clear, they are not) of a changing society. Some of them really think that treating everyone as equal under the law is a threat to them somehow. Some believe that formerly oppressed people plan to “get revenge” on white, cisgendered Christians, when in reality, people just want to live their lives… It’s a crazy mindset to have, but there it is… appealing to that can be powerful.
[ETA] And as always, I think this book goes a long way to showing how the most privileged group in America came to see themselves as rebellious, beleaguered outsiders…

And then there’s Caster Semenya, of course, who was AFAB, does not identify as trans or nonbinary (she has an intersex condition), and has been banned from competing because she won’t use drugs to suppress what, for her, is a naturally occurring high testosterone level. There is no satisfying these peoples’ hatred for anyone who doesn’t fit their idea of normal.

In my head, I think it comes down to:
-rich white guy failing up, exponentially;
-our system responds slowly to high-frequency anti-social behavior;
-America is still very racist, very sexist, and very homophobic.

In a sample that combined transgender and cisgender minors, 150 breast reductions were done on youth. Of those, 146 (or 97%) of these surgeries were done on cisgender boys who had gynecomastia, the medical term for unwanted breast development in cisgender males.
But they will leave this part out and scream about “150 children had their breasts removed!!” It’s not possible to fight these asshats with facts, but it may affect some hangers on, maybe.

Apparently I don’t have a gender, because I haven’t contributed biological material to any children, and as a mayfly that only exists to mate and then die that is the only standard by which I can be judged.
