Toilet designed to be uncomfortable to sit on, aimed at boosting employee productivity

Open-plan offices are their own special kind of hell. In theory, they make it easier to collaborate, but what if you have to write a proposal or documentation or some other big soul-sucking document, and the guys behind you are talking about their kids’ high-school football games for like an hour straight, and you can’t wear earphones because it looks “unprofessional”?

depending on the employer and the management chain, they may not care as long as it’s not excessive.

My boss doesn’t care what I do, as long as my work get’s done. But then, I’m salaried, and more often than not, on call.

Yes, they are.

Fortunately, my group is all back of house, so the bulk of us have large over the ear headphones.
