when i was 17, the best looking, most well liked, and all around nicest guy in our circle of friends committed suicide. we were completely shocked. he had it all going for him, we thought. but he suffered from depression and we never knew. he just couldn’t see a way out. 40 years later i still think of him when i read stories like this and the sadness comes back fresh. i hope to god someone will reach out for help today.

remember that there are many, many, many people who do not have a choice in that. and if your friend is struggling but you ghosted them because you don’t know what to say or do, spend some time Googling how to help people with depression. It will help. Don’t do nothing.
