Top Republican Senate candidate wants Jews removed from America

California has about 20 million registered voters. That means nearly four million people in California are willing to vote for a literal Nazi.

Yeah… not really how polling works. First off, the poll in question showed that about half of Californians are certain they’ll vote in the election. So please don’t discount the millions of people who will sit on their asses and order a pizza instead.

They actually polled about a thousand people. According to Wikipedia Feinstein has a 48% disapproval rate. Those people were forced to choose between Feinstein, 2 other democrats, “Undecided,” a republican with a spanish name, and this guy named Little. Undecided and Little (R) both got twice as many votes as De La Fuente (R).

The actual takeaway from this poll is that every Republican with name recognition in California is currently running for GOVERNOR. Because they know they have no shot against this woman who’s been sitting in the same chair for 16 years.

But you have to combine more than one fact to get the full picture. I agree that the poll mostly shows that there’s a large block of people who will choose a Republican in a poll without knowing who they are actually supporting. The number who would actually vote for that Republican on a real ballot without knowing who that person is is smaller, but far from zero.

Probably many of the people who chose a Republican name on a poll did so because the work under the assumption that their party would not put a literal Nazi on the ballot. That assumption is wrong. Most of the people who chose that in the poll don’t support naziism, but they do use a heuristic to make choices that has a small but real chance of choosing a Nazi. Most of us find 1% Nazi to be way too much Nazt.
