Trump administration considers a centrally planned economy to deal with coronavirus

Or they will fund companies only in key counties in battleground states.

When are they going to cancel the GOP and Democratic conventions?

Yep, trump sees sickness and suffering both as a business opportunity and a political tool.

Trump: I’m not a socialist. Trust me, people are getting very rich. Very rich. Many of them are my friends, and let me tell you, they are getting richer than you can imagine. And guess what, we’re not gonna tax them. At all. So no, I’m not a socialist.

Lowest bid wins, followed by the project going grossly over-budget. Woooooooo!

Why would Trump have to do that if the virus is going to go away quickly as Trump has stated ?

Fuckingfuckingfucking fuckheaded fucker. I would beat my head on the desk, but I think I will need my brain. Damn it all.

I’d be OK with that trade off.

And by the way, has Trump somehow blamed the Democrats for the virus yet? I’ve lost track.

From what I’ve read, the masks and pharmaceuticals that are needed right now are either produced using components from, or produced entirely in, China and Mexico, so there may not be a whole lot this legal mechanism can actually get used for…

It would have been faster and easier to just appropriate the money, but the Trump administration was literally using a pandemic threat as a bargaining chip, and one used to hurt the poor, no less.

Up until now the White House response to the outbreak has been incompetence and chaos, but now they’re doubling down on stonewalling, restricting information and wishful thinking as a strategy. They’re treating it as a PR problem, not a public health disaster. They’re absolutely going to make it worse than it needs to be. Much worse.

Yep, pretty much.

And Mick Mulvaney actually said, “The press was covering their hoax of the day because they thought it would bring down the president.” (Referring to news about the coronavirus.) This is the big right-wing conspiracy theory right now - that the virus is a deep-state hoax, so I’m sure we’ll be hearing more and more from the White House about it.

Clearly you don’t need your brain. In this unfortunate timeline we live in, look how far you can go with shit in your head instead of brains. (maybe hit your head on the table a whole lot, then run for president)

I’m sitting this loop out.

Well, if one wanted to engage in all kinds of price fixing, innovation strangling, big stick/big government, favor dealing shenanigans, it would be different…
but republicans would never do such things. /s

He wants to build a hospital in 10 days. That kind of stuff is what impresses him.

Trump doesn’t give a shit about Factory A or Factory B making the right type of masks. He wants the Fed to do something to bail out the stock market. Welfare for the 0.01%.
