Trump and Trump Jr. praise doctor who says diseases are caused by "evil deposits from the spirit husband"

Many are troubled that they aren’t getting enough demon-sex.

Yeah, there’s almost certainly nothing clinically wrong with her. She’s a crackpot; her brain’s perfectly okay, it’s just been filled with dangerous rubbish.

But that’s the ideology we’re swimming in… the underlying current of our society.

I was reading something that mentioned Betsy Davos earlier, and it occurred to me. We should be glad he didn’t know Stella Immanuel before he was elected. She might have been head of the CDC.

Why do you assume he isn’t? He’s on the phone every other week with Putin. They’re talking about something. If you assume he’s putting American interests first, yes, his behavior is a train wreck. If you assume he’s putting foreign interests first, and scale those interest somewhere between “unfriendly” to “hostile”, then his behavior makes total sense.

Killing the response to covid and thus tanking the economy doesn’t seem to be going well for him. But fair point, if we forget about his personal well beings and consider what his foreign interests want, then I guess he nailed this perfectly. Fuck this upside world.

Would argue that it can be both. Umberto Eco seems to agree that fascism isn’t especially coherent or rational, and that is one of the ways that it eludes many of the rhetorical defenses that open societies can muster. Would also agree that the click-bait and monetization structures of the web (which are basically the effects of the half-wittingly complicit and panicking-over-the-internets-de-monoplization-of-the-means-of-information-dissemination) media establishment sector - are major contributing factors in the effective rise of neo-fascism. But there are (hopefully only passingly reminiscent) echoes of similar patterns in the past - in the 1930’s the then-new medium of radio and Leni Riefenstahl’s stirring manipulations in film were also media modes that society had little experience with then, or naive memetic immune system responses to, so-to-speak.

There is a decent logic to Trump baiting with it, I guess. It will no doubt steer the discourse in the ‘hahaha silly people who believe in demons’ direction, which will further infuriate and solidify his evangelical base. I just think it they’d vote for him no matter what, while this hurts him with moderates.
