I agree that plenty of utterly unqualified harmful people have been given powerful government jobs courtesy of Cult45… but… about the whole “incompetence” narrative being presented us…

Kendzior’s argument against the media’s comfortable portrayal of a buffoonish, incompetent administration is that

I sense nearly no one in this thread is inclined to minimize the vast intentional and profitable damage these bad-faith government actors have done to us, our air, water, land, relationships with other nations, etc. I take no joy in stating “the cruelty is the point” in part because when I say these words aloud to people I meet who claim to be undecided voters, what I see next in their faces is denial and an immediate glaze-over.
My guess is we will see a “oops we lost track of all those immigrant children” redux, replete with barely-feigned White House excuses for bad outcomes, and a total lack sustained reportage of morbidities and mortalities associated with this specific vaccine’s rollout.
It’s a damn wonder the U.S. ever got to the moon landings, really.
… aka the 24-hour news cycle, yes. Along with the Friday News Dump and the Firehouse of Falsehood, the Squirrel Doctrine is a reliable lever to yank on.
