Also, they must prominently feature a giant golden letter T.
guess its time to schedule a total rehab of Trump tower in NYC.
This obviously has a pretty convoluted lineage, but all in all I think it’s more gothic than classical. Which would track, because it was probably designed by someone whose only points of reference for non-shack architecture were churches (and possibly one or two slightly bloodstained palaces).
Gothic? This is pretty standard neo-baroque
There’s got to be a grift in this somewhere.
Is he going to start selling mawble columns somewhere off of route 15 in NJ after this?
“Are there any identifiable groups we haven’t pissed off yet?”
“I don’t know, Architects?”
“Okay, get on that.”
Phew, I guess based on that list my self made Sims 3 dream home gets a pass. Villa Royce
Postmodern architecture rejects modernism’s rejection of the past.
I’m one of those weirdos who actually likes many Brutalist designs. This particular building may not be the best example of the movement, but I’ve seen some nice examples torn down in recent years because of a baby-with-the-bathwater approach to Brutalism.
This is something I can actually get behind. “International style” needs to fucking die. Neo-classical is timeless. There is no reason the architectural flourishes that were used BEFORE ELECTRICITY can’t be used today. There are companies out there making architectural terracotta pieces, and marble workers, and ornamental brick layers.
It drives me up a wall when I walk through an old neighborhood and see the style they used to build with. IF WE COULD PUT SOME CRESTING AND GABLE PEDIMENTS ON A ROOF BACK THEN, WHY THE FUCK CAN’T WE DO IT ANY MORE!? CRESTING AND GABLE PEDIMENTS LOOK AWESOME!
FUCK INTERNATIONAL STYLE.
Maybe DC could use some traditional american architecture for their facades, instead of imitation Greek and Roman buildings.
Yes, and the windy plaza in front of City Hall is as bad. And right next to Quinzee Mahket!
The definition of “beautiful style” certainly has white supremacist roots, but I think the origin of this order is much more mundane. We’ve seen over and over that the Whiner in Chief cannot let go of pet peeves which affect his personal comfort. Think incandescent light bulbs. Think shower heads. He obsesses about insignificant bullshit. He could care less about 300,000 Americans dying but if a showerhead doesn’t deliver enough water for his perfect hair–!! I wonder how long before he orders everyone to wear their underwear on the outside so he can check whether they’ve changed it regularly.
Obviously churches are a big deal in Russian architectural history, as with so many other countries, but Moscow has every bit as rich of an architectural history as anywhere else. Some pretty well known include the Bolshoi Theater, the GUM department store and a ton of great examples of Art Nouveau buildings.
Oh, and we had waterless urinals.
but that would be a crime
Haha yeah Trump has zero grasp of beauty, whether physical, spiritual, or conceptual.
