False equivalency.
So like, an international effort to educate Americans?
With a series of concerts to fund it, where artists can sing about how fucked we all are.
Alright, so it’s the old chestnut - if people didn’t vote right, it’s because they Think Wrong. Cool.
Thank God Obama ran on something more than “if you don’t vote for me, you’re a racist”.
False how? Please explain.
Uh, yeah? And?
When people on both sides of you Think Wrong ™, maybe it’s your party that thinks wrong.
And that’s not how you win an election. Is that too hard to grasp, bra?
Tell her you love her and that you’re sorry this is happening.
This is easy to say if you’re a white straight male.
Dude, I’m not advocating Clinton. I voted Green (I’m in Oregon, so I had that luxury). I fully believe the Democratic party abjectly failed it’s consituency. I am arguing with the guy because he believes Trump isn’t a pig because a lot of women voted for him.
Edit: But you know what? I’m done. I respectfully leave this space for those mourning a Trump win. It’s necessary, and I’m not going to take away from that by arguing.
Edit: Realized I mis-stated dude’s argument. I’m tired, worked all night (12 hours +), and shouldn’t be arguing anyways. So aplogies to him, even though the rest I meant. Hugs/thoughts for those having a hard time with this.
This is just the beginning. Trump revealed the strategy, now it’s going to be studied and perfected. Facts are opinion, and big money media campaigns aren’t as effective as personal, unmediated messaging. Twitter is perfect for politics because it lets you drop a sound bite with no expectation (or possibility) of depth or explanation.
CNN, BoingBoing, Fox, Huffington Post, Reddit, etc… will keep playing along because it’s great for business.
The part about the minorities, certainly, but not about women’s bodily autonomy. Trump isn’t that different from Joe Average Republican (e.g., Kasich), and is probably left of Kasich on this issue. Trump is toxic, obviously, but he is just the latest manifestation of the toxicity that’s been with us all along.
Do you think I don’t know that? I’m a woman in America. I understand that my body is not considered my own very well.
Thanks for putting words in my mouth, another Winning Strategy™
What I said is that sexism was not a factor big enough to swing the election on its own. That is regardless of who or what Trump is. Obsessing about that will accomplish nothing and spread unnecessary fear. Legally Roe v Wade is pretty solid, and anyway that’s a fight for Congress - where Dems were also steamrolled once again, the fools.
Well hell… 350+ comments in when I wake up, well I was ‘up’ earlier but I really didn’t feel like getting up proper at 3:30am… fuck.
Looking at the popular vote totals, well FUCK YOU VERY MUCH ELECTORAL COLLEGE.
I don’t know if I can even get a coherent thought at how bad things are going to be at this point.
Yes, I’m sure you’re aware. No offense intended.
It doesn’t matter.
This seems to be a convenient myth, that the poor voted him in.
In this election, even in “safe” states I’d say that nobody who opposed Trump had that luxury.
I thought I had that luxury too, but I saw this shitstorm coming and did a last minute chicken vote for Hillary.
