Trump-endorsed Senate candidate Herschel Walker told Howard Stern he suffers from multiple personality disorder

With how much churn? He (I assume) didn’t specifically say he had 600 all at once

We can make jokes about lying about mental illness though. Sounds like he just wants an excuse to be a liar and miscreant.

I will hold my hands up to throwing a couple of low punches.
I’m not making jokes about mental illness in general, I’m aiming specifically at an unpleasant republican (as if there were another kind), who uses supposed mental illness as an excuse for anything.
If anybody’s offended, my apologies.

I do hope mr walker gets all the healing he needs. He shouldn’t, however, receieve said healing on the fucking campaign trail, nor should it come at the (metaphorical or literal) expense of Georgia’s constituency.

As a citizen of this great state, I entirely agree.

#teamwarnock! I will once again vote for this radical liberal…

Georgia, where even our radical liberal option is a preacher lol

Given he’s working to represent all of us by fighting for what we need (health care, voter rights, civil rights, etc), I’m okay with that.

Not all preachers are right wing shit heads. Plenty of fighting the good fight for a just and equitable society.

He’s a really insightful guy. I regularly refer to his sermon about the Wilderness and the psychological effect it can have on a person. It’s one of the most useful applications of Biblical allegory I’ve ever heard.

Yeah. He’s awesome. I’m glad he’s my Senator.

Thing is, there are sooo many things to poke fun at in this misbegotten campaign. Pretty much every position he has taken is just wrong, except the ones that are wronger. If we stick to that, we are all good. Mental illness, verified or otherwise, is generally not a fair target. Too many folks who have those problems are struggling enough without being inadvertently targeted as by-blows from a stupid candidate’s stupid campaign.

I take this claim with a lump of salt. I do not necessarily believe that he was lying to Howard Stern, but I also doubt that he fully understood what dissociative identity disorder actually is. There are a lot of things that can cause memory loss of the type that he describes, and DID is not the most likely at all.

Oh I know, I voted for him and donated to him. Georgia is just…Georgia
(I did not grow up here but I’m going on 17 years living here!)

I have a bad feeling about the next election cycle here though, I think the GQP has been spending a lot of time/money on the local elections. I live in the district that they messed with and now have to decide between Bourdreux and McBath for congress, and I’m just like, this shouldn’t even be a thing?

Granted, I crossed the line, and I apologise.

IMHO, transphobia, homophobia, racism, sexism and every other type of bigotry is the calling-card of the Repubs and the Tories.

All of the above are also illnesses of the mind.

I have every sympathy with those struggling with genuine illness.

I have not a lot of sympathy with the right wing.

Again, apologies for any offence caused.

I’ve lived her all but 6 months of my life… so yeah. I know. I know that it’s not just one thing. It’s the home of Stone Mountain, where the 2nd KKK started, but it’s also home to Dr. King and SCLC.

I refuse to give into them. Fuck it. It’s OURS just as much as it is theirs.

Nothing wrong with a little internal competition that bring issues within the party to light. I like them both, and will be happy with either, honestly. But yes, McBath should not have been pushed out of the 6th. But the conservative elements around the ATL are in panic mode, because they’ve lost the 'burbs for the most part. ATL is really the states center of gravity, and they know it.

I don’t think it is really helpful to liken bigotry to a disease.

For starters, equating the two is unfair to people with actual mental illness because it implies a person with schizophrenia has as much agency over their own thoughts, words and actions as a legislator championing a new discriminatory bill.

I am not likening mental illness to a disease.

I am, however, likening bigotry to a disease, in that it spreads from mouth to mouth.
