Trump has COVID-19

“There is one thing that is absolutely certain about throwing a dead cat on the dining room table – and I don’t mean that people will be outraged, alarmed, disgusted. That is true, but irrelevant. The key point, says my Australian friend, is that everyone will shout, ‘Jeez, mate, there’s a dead cat on the table!’ In other words, they will be talking about the dead cat – the thing you want them to talk about – and they will not be talking about the issue that has been causing you so much grief.”

  1. Make a full recovery in a few days, but we later discover he passed it onto Biden during the debates. And relentlessly mocks Biden’s use of a ventilator.

Heeeere comes another one…

eta: What is with that phase “out of an abundance of caution”? Do they have a Republican app that suggests it all the time? “Just to be on the safe side” works fine too, along with many others.

hey, thank you. honestly, my case was mild – my only lingering symptom (so far) is the loss of taste and smell, and those are coming back, but very slowly. from what i understand, it could be months and months, and i might not get them fully back, which sucks, but on-balance, i’ll take it. i think i had several important factors in my favor: my contact tracer said that wearing a mask probably reduced the dose i was exposed to, for one thing, and i am young enough and healthy, and have a pretty healthy lifestyle. i feel ridiculously fortunate.

But what if he has this story–true or not–and then he makes a “heroic” recovery?

“Look everybody, I’m so big and strong and unbeatable” blah blah blah.

He gets a free pass on a lot of levels: debates he doesn’t want to do, legal crap he should already be in court for, impeachments, the predictable pity, the fake outrage about how people are criticizing or “attacking” (whatever) a sick man and/or his mental condition, etc.

And he gets to hijack the public narrative again so that once again, it’s all about him, “the health of the president and how America will cope if…”, his messaging, and soaking up all the bandwidth, starving or at least competing with Biden for airtime, etc.

I have no idea if the current narrative is fact or fiction because I’ve developed so many calluses on my credulity (already unwillingly cynical to begin with). I do know that manipulation is a core strategy deployed in every conceivable fashion by Cult45.

Ultimately:

I wish we were so lucky. It seems more likely that this is a cover so he can drop out of the debate(s) and come back thumping his chest claiming that the virus was no big deal and he’s had worse colds.

Let’s not forget these people walked nonchalantly onto a medical campus carrying a deadly virus even with multiple warnings from staff to them about staying masked up

Or the opposite.

“Look everyone, I took hydroxochloroquinine and remedisvir and this thing wasn’t much more than a light cold. So easy to beat. And I’m so healthy too. The democrats want to shut down the world for nothing.”

I don’t think there is any reasonable possibility that this is intentional in any way. We’re talking about an infection that is spreading among the highest levels of government, and even if Trump beats it, this comes across horribly and cripples the White House a month before the election.

It would be swell if all these assholes would stop playing games with all our lives, wouldn’t it?

That would require scheming a few steps ahead and telling a lie that makes him look weak and foolish in the meantime. Not really in line with his character. Remember he’s Biff Tannen, not Niccolò Machiavelli.

The question we should ask ourselves is “would a Covid-19 outbreak in the White House fit with what we know about the virus and this administration’s approach to protecting the President and others from contracting it?”

That’s on top of conservative Christians wishing on a cursed monkey’s pawfor a candidate who would win the presidency in 2016.

It isn’t transmitted by touch. They’ve documented a single borderline case of maybe that happening. It’s airborne.
