Trump on coronavirus: If we stop testing right now, we’d have very few cases, if any

It’s a normal process for those of us that are not sociopaths to try and wrap our heads around people that are. I stopped doing that at some point (maybe I’m just more jaded as I get older) because like trying to understand the Trump voters themselves, it’s almost impossible.
I’ve worked for and with only a few people to whom I would apply “sociopath” or at minimum “narcissist”, so IMO their numbers are relatively low in the world at large. You want to try and understand why they are so terrible at being a human being, but I don’t know if it’s possible.

I think you need one more hyphen:
run-the-country-like-a-business-scam

Run-the-country-like-a-business is bad enough, but we’re in cold-calls-about-printer-ink territory. (If that’s still a thing.)

Oh no, those people died of 100 000 different “mystery illnesses”

When we get a little closer to election time (and 250,000, unfortunately), I plan to paint this on a sheet and hang it from our front porch. Of all of the evil that has passed his nasty grease hole, this contextualizes who he is in a profoundly dark manner.

That statement is, quite simply, the dumbest fucking thing I’ve ever heard.

Wait, are you aware how much not testing costs? Don’t worry though the treasury will write out a big check to some close personal friend of 45 to handle that.

I love a good pile-on when Trump says something ACTUALLY terrible, but this isn’t it. In context (and it’s a 30-second clip, it’s not hard to watch the whole thing), he’s obviously accusing other countries of not doing enough testing, which is artificially lowering their official numbers. “Hey if we did that we wouldn’t have any cases either”, basically.

This is ALSO manifestly wrong, because we do not lead the world in percentage of population tested. But accusing him of saying what he obviously isn’t doesn’t help. It just yet again lets his supporters ignore us.

Perhaps, but after 3 1/2 years of his lies, incompetence, blundering, ruining everything he touches; if someone is still supporting him, do you really think “we” have a chance of changing their minds?

Yep. So it’s not the gob-smackingly stupid thing it might seem at first glance; just more of the usual cynical, mendacious, lying bullshit that gets people killed by trying to prop up Hair Furor’s public image.

Well, that’s a relief. /s

[ETA: just to be clear, my sarcasm there is not aimed at @ajacs1, with whom I agree entirely. Just noting that what DJT actually said is way worse than what he was being mocked for.]

I disagree with you there. I avoid hearing Trump talk at all. So, thanks for the context - it changes it from his incredibly ignorance to his more dangerous, and more revealing, malicious projection.
