In case you didn’t know, it’s a very specific rule in one state – Michigan – that only applies if both of your homes are in Michigan. It’s to keep big-city people from inundating small picturesque resort towns by bringing the virus with them to places that do not have the medical capacity to deal.
If you live in Chicago and have a second home in Michigan, you can travel between them as much as you want, because that’s not affected. And quite honestly: that’s the more likely scenario. Most people don’t have vacation homes in the same state they live in.
Like, I’m sorry your second home was unreachable. While that was going on the minimum wage delivery dudette infected her family with covid-19 because she had no choice but to work.
Like, holy fucking shit the first-world problems being talked about in this topic. Go get some perspective from people who have to choose between risking their lives and losing their homes.
Yes, the law as written sucks, so lets force those same poor people off of social security, and have them choose between working high-risk jobs or losing their homes. For parks. So the coffee shop can stay open.
This bullshit about how the poor are suffering is more about the rich being unwilling to support the working poor through this crises while also trying to force those same working poor into terrible, untenable choices and positions. They are the ones who are going to get infected. But hey, you won them their right to fucking parkland again.
I did not personally know any trump supporters where my home is but just spent 4 months in NC for the winter. I have met quite a few of them here and of the ones that opened up to me when I tried to understand how they could like him so much, the majority did so as a combination of wanting to see the political system/establishment burn, and for the ones with the massive Trump flags, a form of trolling perceived members of said establishment.
The official policies drafted by White House staff and published on the website are trumped (pun fully intended) by whatever Trump blurts out or tweets out, because that is what people pay attention to.
