I did a year of law before switching course. Pretty sure that “ignorance of the law is no excuse”* was covered on day 1 of crim law. Possibly even earlier, in introductory lectures.
I can’t see any court going for this. It’s not quite the same, but if this argument was to be accepted it would almost be akin to an extension of qualified immunity to all crimes. At least all crimes committed by wealthy white men in positions of authority… Okay wait… No maybe I can see that now that I think about it. Well, shucks.
*Except for rare exceptions when it is specified, because the law is never that simple and there’s no rule without exceptions

Or was it too limited to cops (which was the part that really infuriated me at the time! I mean, it’s their whole job, but they get a pass, and it’s not our job, but we don’t get a pass… ) ?
in terms of keeping him off the ballot, no. there’s judicial review, but not a jury.
the constitution instead states that congress can exempt him ( and they did so both on for individuals, and later for pretty much all ex confederates at once, after the civil war )
If he “lacked notice” as he claims he would have recorded the “beautiful” phone call himself and posted it on the interwebs. He talks like a mob boss 100% of the time because he suspects 100% of the time that whatever he may currently be doing is illegal.

Not sure how the US government can continuously monitor the thoughts and actions of 360 Million citizens to track when they are in danger of going illegal, and warning them.
He’s going for the total chaos method. A Gish Gallop of idiotic appeals. Bald-faced lies and bombastic denials of them. Just waiting for a judge to lose their cool so he can play the victim.
