Trump promises "food for everyone," leaves without paying

What’s that saying…?

“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 200 times…”

In Futurama episode Decision 3012, The Head of Nixon offered FREE BEER to get people to vote for him again.

Another little bit of prophecy:

Nixon: I promise to cut taxes for the rich and use the poor as a cheap source of teeth for aquarium gravel!
Fry: Yeah, that’ll show those poor!
Leela: Why are you cheering, Fry? You’re not rich!
Fry: True. But someday I might be rich, and people like me better watch their step!

he couldn’t pay even if they called it on him. tiny hands and short arms.

One of the most head-shaking aspects of the infamous “McDonald’s for White House guests” incident is that Trump owned an ostensibly high-end hotel just blocks away from the White House, so he could have just had his hotel’s kitchen cater the the thing instead of sending some flunkies to order a bunch of crap off the dollar menu.

As I said at the time, perhaps Trump did it as a publicity stunt to show that the White House was affected by the furlough, which he blamed on the Democrats.

I’m actually glad that he didn’t use government money to pay for his hotel to cater events. It would have been far from the worst conflict of interest in his administration, but still, it’s clearly unethical.

Who knows why he didn’t go that way. Maybe some career bureaucrat a few levels under him actually decided to follow the rules in the required government ethics training.

I meant he could have paid for it himself, as he ostensibly was with the McDonald’s food.

This still puzzles me somewhat. It was so out of character for him.

Maybe the hotel staff was just too busy to cater such events, what with the deep-pocketed foreign lobbyists spending all their time there.

Well that made my stomach roll in disgust. Thanks, I hate it?

Food? for Everyone?!!

I’m seeing this as another way that 45 is changing the discussion about him from “OMG 37 indictments” to “OMG he didn’t pay for food.” Yes, this is terrible behavior, but it in no way is similar to what he is facing trial over, but the media is now talking about how he is not paying for food, and there is less coverage of the indictments.

This is something he does all the time - bury a huge scandal with a minor scandal. It keeps his name in the headlines, and his supporters can brush this one off while it overshadows the much more dangerous issue.
