“First to hold primaries” apparently means your entire state is flooded with this kind of non-stop stupidity for literally months before it goes nationwide. The rest of us only have to endure this moron for a timeshare slice of him. Which is still too much, but at least we get a break when he moves on to other, stupider pastures.
That’s not the case for billions of your fellow human beings, and there’s no reason to just dismiss them out of hand, because it’s easier for you to organize your understanding of the world.
Trump’s fragile power over his deluded minions & his hoped-for defeat was foreshadowed in one of my favourite episodes of Star Trek - TOS: “And the Children Shall Lead”. This clip is where their “leader” is unmasked for the monster he really is bit.ly/4ajuxkJ
Sometimes it’s not just your state. The local affiliates where I live in Massachusetts are from Boston, which also covers southern New Hampshire. So even though Republicans have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning the electoral votes from Massachusetts, we’re already getting bombarded by ads (especially for Nikki Haley; I was sorely tempted to respond to her campaign’s text messages with “go yourself”, only with something a bit more explicit, instead I just blocked all those numbers that sent them to me) that I’m pretty sure are targeted at New Hampshire.
But at least this year there aren’t going to be any New Hampshire Senate races. In the past having every other ad (I wish I was exaggerating but I think there were times that was literally true) on TV be an ad for candidates it’s not legally possible for you to vote for or against got tiring about a week in, which was months (that felt like a decade) before the election.
Sometimes I envy other countries that have laws limiting how long political campaigns can start before an election.
… I dunno, that always sounds like a post facto rationalization to me — Jamestown was not full of libertarian edgelords worshiping the Flying Spaghetti Monster
More accurate to say it was founded to “hurt the people they felt deserved to be hurt.” Being not them, for starters. The asshats really are in that spirit. Freedom for me, none for thee.
