So, it turns out that the reason Trump did a reverse on the Easter deadline was because his staff convinced him that the majority of the American public wanted the restrictions to be kept in place beyond that. This is disturbing enough, because it means Trump wasn’t paying any attention to the experts, but it’s made worse by the fact that it was only a bare majority of Americans - and a large majority of Republicans don’t want the restrictions in place, so the moment he finds that out, he’ll likely reverse himself again. (Ironically, Republicans don’t want restrictions because they’re not taking it seriously - because they’ve bought into his downplaying the virus. So it’s an echo chamber experiencing a deadly feedback loop.)
There’s nothing more permanent than a temporary solution…
