Probably not quite all of it. The high profile executions are certainly in large part about dealing with the losers of power struggles rather than a sincere commitment to squeaky-clean governance; but on occasion important people get shot.

Given his ongoing collection of the best people and truly unsurpassed conflicts of interest I’m not sure Trump would be comfortable with a system where people who matter even occasionally get purged.

Europe had an especially well developed process; but the implementation of various treaties and trade organizations and such is, de-facto, importation of law.

I doubt we’ll be doing that for Chinese penal practices; that’s just more of an unhinged admiration for people he wishes were his peers thing; but importing law is effectively a thing in general.

I think “acknowledgement of reality” will be quickly downgraded to “convenient coincidence with reality” once he institutes all his tough-guy reforms and suddenly announces that he’s solved al of America’s drug problems.

Yeah, recognizing reality is only done because it’s convenient and advances some agenda. As soon as it stops being convenient, he splits from reality again.
