Trump says Joe Rogan should "stop apologizing" to "Radical Left maniacs and lunatics"

I think I’m inclined to agree with you on that. That struck me as a weird take away on Deggan’s part, too.

Reminded me of this:

The only thing that might change my mind is 100 guest instructors, each to be paid one million dollars from Rogan’s pocket for a few hours of their time.

Part of the problem with investing any credibility or interpreting any sacrifice or change in a Joe Rogan apology is that apologizing actually fits his schtick. He’s not asshole-bro, he’s Mr. Reasonable who is “open to all ideas” without regard to the harm he does. “Doing better” is what he keeps telling people he represents, that he isn’t hung up on one side of an argument or another, so is, in fact doing better and trying harder than anyone else. His audience wants him to remain “The Most Reasonable Person In the Room” so that he continues to whitewash dangerous and hateful perspectives. It’s a pretty sinister vehicle for some pretty poisonous stuff.

I dont want to belabor the point. I’m no Rogan fan, I casually heard two episodes and some clips forever ago. But even when he had on a guest I considered worthy of hearing, he still came off as a gullible dumb ass. Rogan represents the same problem as Fox News or talk radio-- as long as there is profit to be made they will have a podium and a megaphone. The morons and assholes have been elevated to authority figures. End stage capitalism.

I get what you’re saying, buying into his apology works for his brand.

I thought the apology was a good start. Except maybe I was fooled; the first half sounds authentic, but then the Planet of the Apes part is horrible self-serving BS (I originally saw a partial transcript before I heard the whole thing)-- one step forward and two steps back.

I hope there are those in Rogan’s circle, other comedians perhaps, who would call him out in private, and that it could make a difference. “If you’re so open minded, why don’t have Anthony Fauci on, and give him the same leeway you give your other guests?” I admit I don’t know enough about Joe Rogan to really gauge that likelihood. It at least appears public outcry can impact him when it only empowers someone like Tucker Carlson.

People keep playing that other record but that’s sure the part I keep hearing.

What was India.Arie’s clip cut from; dozens upon dozens of instances of him saying n*gger, on various different eps of his podcast.

Clearly, he likes using the slur. Clearly he doesn’t give a fuck about how it may make Black people feel.

So unfuck him and anyone who defends him because of freeze peach.

Obviously its not up there with making fun of Bell’s palsy or using the n-word, but there’s also this (and I don’t rule out it being intentional, as some kind of dig):

…definitely no hard feelings towards Joni Mitchell. I love her too. I love her music. ‘Chuck E’s in Love’ is a great song.
