Trump says shutdown may continue “a long time”

My prediction is that Trump and Congress will reach an agreement soon after this shutdown lasts longer than the longest shutdown so far, the 21-day shutdown of December–January of 1995–1996. Then Trump will be able to claim that he forced the longest shutdown ever to get the wall built and that he had to sacrifice and stay in DC for Christmas and New Year in DC, instead of beautiful Mar a Lago, in order to fulfill his promise. He will claim victory even if he doesn’t get a cent for the wall. This narrative will play great to his base when he repeats it again and again in his re-election rallies.

He just said workers “need to get used” to not being paid.

Well, his whole MO is to order work done for him, then not pay.

Trump thinks not paying people for the work they do for him is normal and proper. So why would it be any different with the government?

He’s a narcissistic sociopath. He believes he’s the only real person in the world.
