The real shame: that these doubters are not located in swing states.
He’s never done an unselfish act in his life. Why would he start now?
At a restaurant, if someone says “Please pass the salt”,
His response is always going to be: “What’s in it for me?”
My guess is if the headline supports their thinking, they’ll read it, but if it’s critical of Trump, they’ll discard it. The online form gets a lot of hits in the US. I once presented a BBC article on Covid to support a point, and was told it was untrustworthy as it wasn’t American. Of course, The Daily Fail was happily publishing a lot of Fake News before it was cool.
Loretto Hospital executive also…
Sorry to veer off topic.
New York City?!
And honestly these Pace Salsa ads used to get pretty dark …
Everything about all of this reminds me of my second favorite Churchill quote*:
“You can always count on America to do the right thing, once she has exhausted all other options.”
*verifying this before posting shows multiple variations, so I went with the one I already had memorized.
So we should perhaps make education a priority?
Ha, just kidding. Like that fucking works in the UK either.
I’m tempted to say that the golden age for education was when socialists ran night schools so that the working class could not only read but understand various socialist theories. Universal education only became a government priority after those schools became popular.
On a simpler bent, I’d be happy if we could teach our kids right from wrong. Or, failing that, just a modicum of common sense.
Or perhaps just teach them that QAnon and its ilk is an illusory fascination.
- NY disavowed the orange turd long ago.
- He’s a fool and you’re bigger fools for having voted for him.
- Can’t we just fence them all in? Put them in pens and come visit them like the clueless sheep they are as they die off in droves? We can call it the covid zoo. Look kids, this is what happens when you listen to a letter of the alphabet as your god.
I think what those 19th century night schools were doing was teaching critical thinking skills. When the government took over, those weren’t a priority and possibly a liability (the Tories did not want a bunch of working class people who were able to justify why they should have the vote).
“Uhh, we already did that” said the rest of the world.
yup. unfortunately
These people are scary stupid. Past the point of humor, this is actually frightening.
No progress of any sort since at least the middle Ages it would seem.
Crops fail?: “Burn the stranger, he must be an evil wizard” or “Soured milk? Must be that old woman who lives by herself, we didn’t see her in church last week…get her!” won’t be far behind.
I like the Finish model of teaching people critical thinking with regards to media and propaganda. It’s in their interest though - Finland has been on the receiving end of Russian propaganda since at least 1917.

Guess we are never going to be rid of Covid.
I have a different take, I don’t really think they believed Trump was “on their side” or they really believed the promises he made to them, we are all grown ups here and know what a politician does to get elected.
I believe there were two concurrent trains of thought at play, first absolute dislike of Hillary Clinton, for too many reasons to go into detail here, but more important of all, Trump validated their core beliefs, all their racism, their pent up rage, frustration and anger. He gave them a vehicle to “have a go” at everybody, foreigners, the Hollywood elite… He told them what they wanted to hear, that this is THEIR country and they could do whatever they wanted, even trying to assault the capitol.
Is very simple really, Adolf Hitler was doing the same in the 30s. Also using rallies and modern technology to reach the masses. The rest is manipulation 101
