Trump tweeted sensitive U.S. surveillance image of Iran, experts say

Oh, then I guess it’s obviously not meddling then. You do remember that Obama campaigned on a platform of reducing troops in and ending the wars in the ME right? He did a lot to wind down US involvement in those conflicts too.

You realize that the whole Benghazi - Emails thing would never have happened and DT would now be a failed candidate if Obama and Clinton had just left Libya the fuck alone…

This. So much.

Amateur analysts using the physics of optics, atmospheric turbulence and sensor tech have long estimated the KH-11 platform’s maximum resolution at ~10 cm.

These photos do not reveal any previously-unknown capability. At most, they confirm what was already known (though even that is nothing new, as these aren’t the first KH-11 photos ever publicly released).

(And the KH-11 isn’t exactly state-of-the-art these days anyway. The state-of-the-art stuff is still secret.)

Seriously, while I despise Hair Furor as much as anyone, I think this particular ‘outrage’ is a tempest in a teapot. No laws were broken, no secrets were revealed, and national security wasn’t in any way compromised.

There are plenty of reasons to Impeach the Motherf*cker, but this isn’t one of them.

As if the republicans needed exactly benghazi to latch onto in order to rally hatred of hillary.

Oh, and, completely off-topic, if Dr.Langbroek and others are correct in identifying the satellite as USA-224, its launch had one of my very favorite NRO mission patches:

It’s a bit of an in-joke, and probably one of the patches that got NRO staff reprimanded for freaking out the more uninformed members of the public.

Now, they have to stick to using cute new mascot cartoon lizard ‘Spike’, and they can’t use skerrrrry flames or octopodes or sorceresses or the like anymore.

And yet I clearly didn’t say he made the policy worse. People can read my comment, you know…

Also, you asked my opinion about Obama’s droning policy following my response to Law, who brought it up initially. So you get some credit for “zeroing in” on it. They can read your comments, too.

More interesting analysis from a GIS boffin and why this is so interesting and unprecedented from a national security perspective.

From a related reddit post:

A sitting “president” giving away military secrets is interesting and unprecedented and all, but keep in mind that equal or greater threats to the U.S. are candidates calling for single-payer universal health insurance and a Green New Deal, as well as a loose coalition of groups united in their opposition to fascists. /“moderate centrist”

I know, right? Those monsters!

As with nearly everything else: Trump has taken an already-unacceptable evil and intensified it.

But that in itself is not a new thing. Bush dropped more bombs and deported more people than Clinton, Obama dropped more bombs and deported more people than Bush, Trump is on course to drop more bombs and deport more people than Obama.

It still matters who you vote for. I’d hate for someone to look at that poster and be discouraged from voting because of false equivalence.

The point of that meme is not “don’t vote”.

The point is “voting alone is never going to solve the problem”.

I hope people would look at that and see some implied call to action, but the words themselves say, “No matter who you vote for, [nothing changes].” If that’s meant to be inspiring, what is it meant to inspire people to do?

And

But still precious few.

Almost the sort of “implausible deniability<” that Putin practices. Kind of humble-bragging for autocrats.

There can be a lot of overlap. the Russians are still putting people into space on top of a launcher that was developed from an early ICBM.

You do know he selected Flynn, who was working for Turkey, as his National Security Advisor? Chose Ratcliffe, an intelligence novice, as Director for National Intelligence? Has routinely complained about and gotten several competent nonpartisan intelligence officials to quit, or fired them? He doesn’t have the best people working for him. The only competent intelligence officer he’s consistently praised is Putin.

I agree, but calling it a “missile” lends a military connotation and implies that a US attack on the launch site would be legitimate.
