50 bucks this is about oil cause I heard there’s been deposits of oil and gas found near Greenland.
There are a few things that do have to be brought up. Does Denmark (that has a relatively small landmass & coastline compared to Greenland) have the will let alone the resources to defend a massive land mass like a post melt Greenland from foreign invaders? If it had to, how much of a role would the EU & NATO would play in helping to defend it? Who is going to pay/train to help the indigenous greenlanders to adapt to a post melt environment/economy? What’s stopping a country like China or Russia from possibly beating the US in a bidding war?
President Trump will have to commit to supporting all those programs if he hopes to add Greenland to the union. And so the United States will gain a state quite unlike any it has had before: a state where landed property is illegal, where private medical care is banned, and where most major industries are state-owned. Most Greenlanders support social-democratic parties, and three-quarters of them already see climate change reshaping their everyday lives.
According to the Journal, Trump is eyeing Greenland partly so that he can mimic President Dwight Eisenhower, who oversaw the addition of Alaska and Hawaii as states. But if Trump adds Greenland to the union, bringing a state soaked in socialism into the American polity, then the anti-communist Ike wouldn’t make for the most accurate comparison. His true historical peers would include Robert M. La Follette, Eugene V. Debs, and Bernie Sanders.
Greenlanders have a strong Greenland identity.
There is a large majority of support for independence in Greenland, although little certainty about how the country would survive without funding from Denmark.
It’s the size of Mexico but with a population of only 56,000 and not much in the way of industry. I don’t think they would be able to survive as an independent nation.
The crash severely strained the United States’ relationship with Denmark, since Denmark’s 1957 nuclear-free zone policy had prohibited the presence of any nuclear weapons in Denmark or its territories. The Thule crash revealed that the United States had actually been routinely flying planes carrying nuclear bombs over Greenland, and one of those illicit flights had now resulted in the radioactive contamination of a fjord.
The successful cleanup helped to heal United States-Denmark relations. But nearly 30 years later, the Thule incident spawned a new political controversy in Denmark. In 1995, a Danish review of internal government documents revealed that Danish Prime Minister H.C. Hansen had actually given the United States tacit approval to fly nuclear weapons into Thule. Thus, the Danish government had to share some complicity in the Thule incident.
The United States Department of State has a record of American offers to buy Greenland in 1946:
Greenland comes with a bowl of soup, but it looks good on you though…
We’re doing what we can to impeach and imprison him.
Truman offered $100 million for Greenland in the 40’s.

Thank you! As effective as Scotland’s ‘Trump is a cockwomble’.
Does he know that we already occupy it?
In case anyone wonders: the woman to the right is from the Sami, an European ethnic group indigenous to Northern Scandinavia, who were marginalized by the other Scandinavians/Nordics who divided the region among themselves.
Thanks. I was wondering about that myself.
The image is a bit misleading, though. They basically look like other Europeans, especially from that region.

Fine, but can the rest of us crash at your place for a while until he goes away?
