Technically true. This asshole’s pushing 80, and ain’t exactly the healthiest - everyday, there’s a reasonable chance he won’t make it out of bed alive.

I know this is what passes for “humor” in his addled brain, and I am not a big-brain-4D chess-playin’ barely-passing-cognitive-tests guy, but Politics 101, maybe don’t crap all over a place you’re going to visit, especially if it’s a place that you’re actively destroying with racist fearmongering.

Well, he has been doing a great job in the past week or so of taking over the narrative, and looking strong in the process. Media (corporate and otherwise) keep taking the bait, like they have for years now.

He’s not going.

Is he trying to suggest that the cat-eating Haitians might mistake him for a particularly large orange tabby?

Daddy, why does this cat taste like hamberders?

He’s just teasing us.

Cats are far too intelligent and cute to have that asshat be mistaken for one.

Given the trouble he and Vance have caused, could the town essentially cancel any possible rally by refusing to issue permits and/or supply any other logistical support this would require? I don’t know if anybody has the balls/ovaries to do that at this point, but it seems like a decent number of high-ranking people in the area have called him out on this B.S.

Even stronger, could the City Commission (which meets on Tuesday evenings and has their next meeting scheduled for the 24th) declare Trump and Vance persona non grata in the city for their lies about Springfield?

Beginning to wonder if things are getting so bad for him that even he can’t keep up his delusions or overcoming all negative situations. Is he to the point of being passively suicidal? Trying to signal his fantasy lone wolf?

Or is he gonna use surviving a trip to a previously peaceful town as some evidence that he has super-hero powers?

We can only hope…

If anyone will be taking potshots at him it won’t be the “migrants” he’s been scaremongering about, it will be the people who have lived there their entire lives. He made their town a living hell and a media circus with his hate speech.

I did see an article titled “Does Trump Even Want to Win?” on WaPo (https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/08/05/donald-trump-georgia-presidential-election/), and the general takeaway was he does want to win, but he’s just an incoherent mess and can’t stay on message for even half a second. I think, like before, he does want to win, but he’s actually not at all good at the whole “winning” thing (see bankrupt casinos), AND he doesn’t actually want the job. This time, the stakes are even higher because he needs to win to make some or all of his legal problems go away.

I don’t think there’s any legal way to ban an American citizen from visiting any city in the country they want since freedom of movement is a fundamental Constitutional right under U.S. law. For that matter the First Amendment can make it tricky to stop an individual from holding a political rally (they can require a permit, but can’t deny one just because the candidate involved is an asshole). So if he’s hellbent on going to Springfield it’s going to be hard to stop him from both a legal and political standpoint.

That said the local government clearly doesn’t want him there. The Republican Mayor has basically been begging Trump “please cut it out with the racist lies and for the love of all that is good and holy please don’t come here.” But the leopards are hungry…
