there’s actually a box on the form somewhere for “are you filing for yourself?” and “is this person dead?”
no idea what the tax implications are. i imagine refunds go to the estate, and then transfer to the heirs minus an estate tax ( though the estate tax exclusion is now up to $11.8 million - from $180,000 last year(!) - and the richest people already have other mechanisms for wealth transfer so basically in the us it’s $0. )
