Trump's cowardly fence becomes a powerful message board for protestors

… but can he “order” walls to be scrubbed too? Like, even if on private property?

Paging social justice mural artists, please pickup on lines 1, 2, 3, and…

Oh believe me, I’m not. It takes a racist village to raise a racist. That said, he has been a huge catalyst for them shedding their civil veneers and being openly racist. I also blame the social media apps for that.

My point remains, if our forward leap toward active fascism isn’t a bigger deterrent than his paper-thin wall, I can’t imagine making it thicker is going to matter much either.

He’s a wannabe despot. He will order anything he wants, and does. The question is, will it be carried out? If it is, then we can drop the “wannabe”.

I’m not assuming anything. First, many of these protesters are acting out of emotion. Emotion is driving this whole thing. Rightful, healthy emotion, but still… emotion. If there were no barriers around the White house, do you think all of them would think it through? Or some would just zerg rush? Because I’m pretty sure at least some would just zerg rush, because zerg rushes worked perfectly well in so many other places, including many retail stores, Rodeo Drive, a police station, the Ohio statehouse and many others. The problem with the Secret Service dealing with a large and angry crowd is that their escalation options go straight from tear gas and bean bags to machine guns very very quickly. They might also have an Active Denial System, but who knows how that would really work in this situation. I’ve never heard of those being used for something like this and I’ve never actually heard that they have it, just guessing it might be in their available options.

Second, doesn’t make any difference if they are there to cause damage or just take selfies. The Secret Service has red lines in their training for how close unscreened people can get to certain locations before certain actions take place. Definitely they have a contingency for a zerg rush of unarmed protesters. Trump has nothing to do with this. They are professional, non-partisan, and it’s the same team from one administration to the next.

Trump may be a coward, but he doesn’t even have anything to do with Secret Service tactics, procedures and policies and I don’t believe the SS are cowards, not at all.

jra is right also. The SS are professionals and a very small, but potentially in some unusual circumstances very important, component in our democracy.

And yet, this is the first time such a barrier has been erected. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence. Funny your use of the term “zerg rush” to describe protesters that only turned violent after Trump had his goons violently clear a path to a church for a photo op. You know, like a coward. Whatever, none of this matters. He’ll be gone in November, and the system will still be racist as hell.
